BHG - In recent years, Ha Giang has been recognised as an unmissable destination on Vietnam's tourism map. Its majestic and pristine landscapes, beautiful nature, and fresh climate act as a "magnet" that draws tourists to Ha Giang. Therefore, protecting the natural landscape is a crucial factor in attracting tourists and developing a sustainable tourism industry.

The pristine beauty of Tu San Alley has always amazed visitors.

Thanks to tourism promotion activities, Ha Giang was recognised as Asia's Leading Emerging Tourism Destination by the 30th World Travel Awards (WTA) for the Asia and Oceania regions last year. The New York Times (the US) ranked Ha Giang among the top 25 out of 52 most attractive destinations, in the world. Nam Dam Village in Quan Bạ Commune (Quan Bạ District) was honoured with the ASEAN Award in community-based tourism. These achievements are the recognition by tourists and the pride and motivation for the province's tourism sector to develop a "smokeless industry" rich in cultural identity while preserving and promoting the natural heritage bestowed upon locals.

Therefore, the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism needs to coordinate with various departments and localities to monitor and advise on basic construction investments to minimise projects that lack cultural value, damage the natural landscape, and negatively impact sustainable tourism development in each region. In recent times, cultural tourism villages have preserved their original values, such as Tha Village, Ha Thanh Village in Phuong Do Commune (Ha Giang City), Xa Phin Village in Phuong Tien Commune (Vi Xuyen District), and Lo Lo Chai Village in Lung Cu Commune (Dong Van District). These villages have become cultural tourism villages with distinct characteristics of the Tay, Dao, and Lo Lo ethnic minority groups, from stilt house architecture to traditional culture, which has been preserved and promoted by the local people, towards creating unique and long-lasting destinations.

In addition to focusing on preserving beauty associated with regional tourism development, the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has acknowledged lessons learned from rapid tourism growth to draw on experience in construction management and sustainable development orientation linked to cultural and natural values. Preserving natural heritage while maintaining the unique features of local traditional culture, creating a highlight for tourism development, and fostering a green, clean, and nature-respecting tourism industry are essential conditions for the sustainable development of Ha Giang's tourism.
