Peanuts have long been a stable source of income for farmers in Minh Quang Commune. To enhance this traditional crop, the project “Building and Registering the Certification Trademark for Minh Quang Peanuts” has been launched as a strategic step toward developing a branded, sustainable agricultural product.

The “Building and Registering the Certification Trademark for Minh Quang Peanuts” model brings economic efficiency to local farmers.

Implemented by the Midland Soil and Fertilizer Research Center under the Institute of Agricultural Soils and Fertilizers, the project aims to obtain certification trademark protection from the Intellectual Property Office for “Minh Quang Peanuts,” while turning the crop into a high-value agricultural commodity. A 5-hectare VietGAP peanut cultivation model was established using the L14 variety, which is well-suited to local soil and climate conditions. The model yielded 39.6 tons of fresh peanuts per 5 hectares, an increase of 19–22% in productivity and 15–17% in economic efficiency compared to traditional methods.

Farmers participating in the project received 70% of seed costs and 50% of input materials, along with training on VietGAP-compliant cultivation and pest control. The adoption of these modern techniques has changed farmers’ mindsets toward standardized, traceable, and safe production, laying the groundwork for long-term brand development.

The project also produced a VietGAP peanut production manual, organized technical workshops and training sessions, and analyzed product samples according to national standards to provide scientific evidence for trademark registration. In parallel, a professional brand identity was developed, featuring a logo, packaging, and promotional materials that highlight Minh Quang’s local culture.

According to the Tuyen Quang Department of Science and Technology, registering the “Minh Quang Peanuts” certification trademark provides a legal “passport” for the product, helping protect its reputation, prevent counterfeiting, and strengthen consumer and market trust. Once branded, Minh Quang peanuts will be better positioned to join trade promotion programs and expand into larger distribution networks.

Beyond legal recognition, the project fosters collaboration among farmers, cooperatives, enterprises, and research institutions, creating a value chain that integrates technology, quality control, and traceability. This marks a strategic step in building a modern, sustainable agricultural identity for Tuyen Quang—where every product reflects local pride, scientific progress, and the spirit of innovation.
