This year’s Independence Day carries a special meaning, not only because it marks the 80th anniversary of the nation’s founding, but also as the country has just completed a major task - “restructuring the homeland”, preparing Vietnam to enter a new era of growth and prosperity.

For the first time, the people of Tuyen Quang, along with citizens nationwide, received gifts from the State on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2). This made this year’s celebration even more meaningful, filling people with pride in the country’s development.

Across Tuyen Quang, the festive atmosphere was vibrant. Streets were adorned with red flags and flowers, citizens walked proudly carrying the national flag, and neighborhoods organized decorations and performances to welcome the national holiday. In Minh Xuan Ward, major streets and squares were decorated with banners, posters, and flags, while even alleys were filled with national and Party flags, reflecting both compliance and unity.

Although unable to attend the grand celebration at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, the people of Tuyen Quang looked toward the historic site with love, pride, and solidarity. With the merger of the former provinces of Ha Giang and Tuyen Quang, the new province now has greater space, vision, and aspirations, and the Independence Day festivities felt more vibrant than ever, from construction sites of the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway to bountiful orchards and lively folk music in villages.

Mr. Ma Cong To from Minh Quang commune, a former soldier in the Laos campaign, said: “National Day is not just a historical event but a symbol of resilience, patriotism, and unity. The 80th anniversary reminds us of our responsibility, gratitude, and aspiration to build a strong Vietnam.”

Young people also celebrated in their own ways—from attending parades in Hanoi to singing the national anthem at Lung Cu Flag Tower or watching revolutionary films. Many shared patriotic moments on social media, spreading national pride.

This year’s Independence Day was more meaningful as every citizen received a VND100,000 gift from the Government. Though modest in value, it carried deep symbolism of care, solidarity, and unity. The gesture brought joy and pride across Tuyen Quang, with elderly residents expressing surprise and gratitude at this unprecedented initiative.

Amidst the joy and pride, the people of this revolutionary homeland cherish independence and freedom more than ever, drawing motivation to work, study, and contribute to building a prosperous nation.
