Vietnamese, Cuban media agencies strengthen professional cooperation

Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper of Viet Nam and Granma Newspaper of Cuba, the official organs of the Communist Parties of the respective nations, have agreed to enhance professional cooperation to promote communications about the two parties' policies and leadership in the context of today’s rapidly changing international landscape.

At a working session in Havana, Yoerky Sanchez Cuellar, member of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and Editor-in-Chief of Granma, affirmed that one of the newspaper’s key focuses is to report on the Viet Nam – Cuba relationship, helping to strengthen the special solidarity, friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

For his part, Dinh Song Linh, head of the Science - Environment Department at Nhan Dan, emphasised the daily’s commitment to fostering professional collaboration with Granma and commended the Cuban side for its special Viet Nam-themed section, launched in honour of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries (December 2, 1960–2025).

The two sides discussed and agreed on cooperation priorities for the time ahead, including signing a memorandum of understanding on professional cooperation to provide a legal basis for the bilateral partnership; increasing content exchange for publication across Nhan Dan and Granma platforms; and jointly training journalists and editors in artificial intelligence (AI) in the digital era.

Additionally, they explored the possibility of establishing a shared digital archive centre to store publications, articles, historical photographs, and valuable press materials documenting the development of each country as well as bilateral relations.

Sanchez Cuellar introduced the Nhan Dan delegation to historical articles, films, and photographs showcasing Viet Nam’s independence struggle, particularly a photo series on President Ho Chi Minh and the special issue of Granma published on May 1, 1975, which covered the liberation of the South and the reunification of Viet Nam on April 30, 1975.

During their visit to Cuba from October 16 to 21, the Nhan dan delegation participated in the first Granma-Rebelde International Press Fair in Havana. At the exhibition booths of both Granma and Nhan Dan, numerous publications on the history of Viet Nam and President Ho Chi Minh were displayed. Nhan Dan also presented a short film about its establishment and development.
